Christmas Market

Christmas in York is kind of beautiful. I've loved the markets this year and since lectures have died down in the last couple of days of term, me and my housemate decided to take a trip into town to see the lovely markets.

What I love about them is the variety of stalls. (And the cute Chrimbo decorations) You could find a really high quality home-made pendant seller next to a cheese seller next to a puppet shop next to a painter! It's great and all the products are beautiful and really amazing.

The buskers in York are actually really talented, and there's always a few out in the same places. I think it really adds to the experience and it's always nice when you can hear actually nice music when browsing round shops, especially Christmas music round Christmas markets!

Holy Chocolate, these brownies looked insane! So many gorgeous flavours, spent a good 10 minutes trying to decide which one to get!

We also visited Thor's Christmas Teepee with a hot choccy and mulled wine. It was so lovely, and free to enter (too busy on weekends though so it was nice to pop in during the week) and it's a lovely warm teepee with a fire burning right in the middle and it's so cosy and lovely.

I really enjoy visiting Christmas Markets and now I'm up in York a lot of the time, I'm loving everything about it. The good thing about the York one I think, is that it's quite a bit smaller than most of the big city ones and during the week its considerably quieter (so much so that you can actually walk around without having to push past everyone) - saying that though, I'm desperate to visit the London ones!

Anyone been to any Christmas Markets yet this year?

Christmas Cupcakes!

It's December, and the countdown to Christmas is real and so I took it upon myself to get my bake on and add some Christmas spirit to our Student House!

I used this recipe and added 2 tsp of cinnamon to add a little bit more Christmas too them!

I added some Cadbury buttons at this point (as we had them in the house) but I think it would have been really nice with some white chocolate buttons!

I did intend for the icing to be a bit more red, and Christmassy! However, it went a little pink (despite me adding like half the bottle of food colouring) so next time I think I'll go for the green!

Obviously you can add whatever you like on top but we didn't have much so I splashed out and got some of these Christmassy sugar decorations (and some Cadbury snowbites - however very few managed to make it onto the cakes!

Anyone been getting the urge to bake recently? What's your Christmas go-to??

November faves!

Oh my goodness it's December already! How did that happen? Seriously?

1. Lindt Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate

This chocolate is divine! Dare I say I haven't even been eating Cadbury's that much now that I've been nibbling on this bar! (I wanted to take the photo before I opened this (my third) bar but what can you do!?) As a lover of a bit of dark chocolate every now and then, this bar is divine - and the hint of salted caramel literally makes me dribble!

When I lay eyes on this skirt I instantly fell for it! And I'm sorry but at £17.99 there was no way I was risking waiting for Christmas! Once all my deadlines are done and I'm home for Christmas I've got a couple of outfits in mind to do posts on, including this gem and the ASOS top mentioned below!

3. Twinings Gingerbread Green Tea

As I said in my October favourites, I've recently dabbled in the world of green tea and following from my salted caramel obsession, the box mentioned that 'If I like that one, I should try the Gingerbread Green Tea' - and that's just what I did! This one is perfect for this Christmassy time of year and smells just like gingerbread (funnily enough - I mean you'd never have guessed it would you?). It's a lovely warming drink and a bit lighter than a gingerbread latter - however I'm greatly looking forward to the day I get my hands on one of them very soon.

Now, for a long time I've been oggling over this online since I saw it and thought - it would go so amazing with my boyfriend jeans! And I've been constantly checking online for (one like this) it to be available in my size!! And so when it was, I instantly sent it to my checkout and here it is - such as nice material and perfect fit, I was right - it does go splendid with my boyfriend jeans (another outfit post that will hopefully be appearing soon).

5. Mockingjay Part 2

It's finally out!! Ahh! I'm a huge fan of the Hunger Games series and a few weeks ago when the finale came out, I got a lovely visit from my friend Meg and we went out for a nice weekend in York that included a trip to the cinema to watch this amazing film! As per usual, this final film was incredible. Tense and exciting and although I've read the books, it left use both on the edge of our seats! I'm gutted they're now over, but I've promised my brother I'll go and see it again with him, when I get home next week!!

Has anyone else seen it yet? What did you think?

So here's a few bits I've been loving this month and well now it's basically Christmas so I'm pretty much loving everything!!!

What have been your November favourites?

Top 10 Favourite Christmas Films

So it's nearly Christmas; come on now it's almost December and we've got a lot to do!

One of those things to do is to snuggle up the fire with hot chocolates in our hand and onesies/Christmas jumpers on and watch some good old Christmas films!

So I thought I'd share with you the top 10 films that are on my list of Christmas films that I'm going to be watching over the next few weeks.

So....

1. Elf

Nuff said!

2. Love Actually

Probably one of my favourite films ever! Every year me and mum (just us, no men allowed) we snuggle up with Cadbury chocolate snowmen and enjoy this amazing film!

3. It's a Wonderful Life

Now contrary to popular households, my childhood Christmases never included the Home Alone series but instead we always watch the oldies like It's a Wonderful Life (one of my faves!) and a few more I've listed below - but this one definitely tops!

4. Family Man

Again, not a Christmas film that anyone else I know watches each year, and although I'm not Nicholas Cage's biggest fan, this film is adorable and so heart warming and perfectly captures the classic 'Family Man' and family life!

5. Polar Express

A Christmas Classic let's be honest, who wouldn't want a ride with Tom Hanks on The Polar Express?

6. Santa Claus

Tim; what a guy! You couldn't cast a better actor for this role and it has become a classic within our family (and the second one two if we've got enough time!).

7. Miracle on 34th Street

Now since, I'm a fan of Matilda and mum loves the good old black and white versions, we tend to fit in both of these gems during December. So sweet, festive and heart warming! I also did used to have a slight crush on Dylan Mcdermot in this film - anyone else? Just me?

8. White Christmas

Mum loves a bit of Bing at Christmas, what can I say?

9. The Holiday

What a film! Come on, who doesn't love the Holiday! Great cast and wonderful storyline (even if it is a bit hollywood for a Christmas film!) - and even if you don't like it, at least watch it in order to look at Jude Law for an hour or two eh?

10. Bishops Wife

Now, this is probably a film not known to many, but I'd be interested if anyone does enjoy this film? It's another black and white classic that my mum has introduced and it's just sort of stuck as tradition in our family. Also if anyone's ever watched the old Pink Panther films (no not Steve Martin) with David Niven (right), you'll know he's hilarious and his work alongside Cary Grant (left) is brilliantly filmed in this fab film!

So here's a few of my favourite Christmas Classics, I'd love to know if any of these feature in your traditional go-tos at Christmas, or any others that you love to watch at this time of year?

PS we may have watched Elf already the other day, anyone else already started watching them?
