Bars & Restaurants in Budapest

We most definitely went to a fair share of bars and restaurants while in Budapest and unfortunately I was too engrossed in the food/cocktail/lighting wasn't good in the evening that I didn't take that many photos.

Luckily I did take a few snaps of some of our favourite spots!

Probably the top restaurant, for me, that we found was Rustico. It was such a lovely restaurant with lovely staff and gorgeous food.

We'd already had some traditional Hungarian food earlier in the week so were very much in the mood for some classic pasta and pizza (although perhaps Rosie wasn't as she was going straight from Budapest to Italy for 2 months the next day!)

I must say the food was incredible and the pizzas and pastas were pretty cheap at around 2000 HUF (£5/6)

We even got serenaded by the live band!

Another restaurant we really loved was The Híd Bisztró, which was right by the river and by the bridge leading to Margaret Island.

I had an absolutely smashing risotto with roasted vegetables and mozzarella!

ONTO THE BARS...

Now undoubtedly the first thing a bunch of students/recent graduands did when we all got to Budapest (after the mini break/nap for the early risers) was head straight out to sample all this cheap but amazing booze we've heard so much about!

After we eventually found them! They did not disappoint.

I'd heard a lot about the ruin bars and it was my mission to find a nice rooftop bar we could sit and enjoy! And sure enough we found Szimpler Kert - one of the top rated ruin bars. The inside had a few little nice hideouts that we didn't actually venture into, and a lovely outdoor seating area and some cool and quirky decorations! ... Oh and the wine was about £1.30! (450 HUF) and it was good wine too, let me just clarify!

Unfortunately these photos below were probably the only decent ones (that didn't involve a lot of pulling ugly faces - still don't quite know why we seem to find that so funny lately!) taken from any other bars.

We spent a few nights going back to the Jewish Quarter where there are bars a plenty! The two we loved were Tropic and Epic - both serving magnificent, nicely sized, cocktails at around 900-1000HUF (£2.50-£3)

On the left is the amazing Hugo (elderflower, soda water & prosecco) from Tropic, and on the right the incredible Mango Daiquiri (probs my fave cocktail ever) from Epic. Safe to say we got a few of these!!

I'm fairly certain that there are many more amazing bars and we didn't really have a whole lot of time to get to them, but if you do your research I'm sure you'll find some really nice ones! If you do have any recommendations please leave them in the comments for others who might be going and for me - cause I'm definitely going back when I get the chance!
